The missus is away this weekend tripping the light fantastique in Paris celebrating her mother's 70th, which leaves me at home solo with the kids. This is the first time I've ever had the privilege, as the kids have never spent 24 hours apart from their mum. We're through that threshold now...just.
Man, what a day. A man's work is never done.
Anyway, I feel remiss in not posting for a while, but tonight is not the night for the opening of veins. Not that I've done anything of the sort for a while. I'm exhausted and I still have the dinner dishes to wash up.
Taking inspiration from Randy's more or less regular forays into the land of random musical selection, I've decided to make similar postings from time to time. I now have 25GB of material on my iPod, all of which from my library, although the last few GB are mostly podcasts I haven't got around to playing yet.
The below a random ten, replacing one podcast with a bonus 11th track.
I like the way random chance dabbled in the Matthew Passion on Holy Thursday.
The 0610 train to London. Dawn is breaking over frosty fields. The train speeds through the pastoral.
I've got a tall latte. The carriage is nearly empty. My head is still heavy with sleep.
I fire up the iPod and load up the Jesuit's prayer podcast. The day's gospel, set and with hymns, prayers and... space. Calming. Centering.
A hectic week ahead and yet a moment of peace to start the week.
